OUR STORY
From an unusual partnership to an active estate.
"The kilns have stopped, but the workshops, courtyards and spirit of practical creativity remain in use."
From 1977, Anthony Morris and Sue James built a large-scale pottery around Matakana clay, strong forms and exuberant colour. It was creative industry: practical, ambitious and recognisably New Zealand.
Commercial pottery production has ended and Anthony Morris is retired. The buildings, courtyards, kilns and accumulated character remain — now home to artisans, a café, market tenants and independent enterprise under family stewardship.
